Gallows Bay Pathway

Project Info

Required Funding $594,000

Project Description

UPDATE:  VITAL has applied to the HFA for funding to meet unmet needs along this route.  If successful the funding would provide possible transit improvements, crosswalks, green spaces, benches and shade trees to encourage active life styles and reduced vehicle dependency.

This proposed project consists of creating an 8 ft. wide multi-use pathway from the East End Rd. across from the Canegata Ball Park around to the Lagoon then to the Custom Dock, up to the By-Pass Corner and back to the Ball Park Crosswalk.  This will create a circle loop to enhance pedestrian walking/biking needs for all age groups while connecting food options, hardware store, post office, grocery, marina and cruise ship passengers to the Historical town and business hub via sidewalks and boardwalk.  The route will also lead to the Spring Gut Road multi-use pathway and to the 50-Acre Public Park and Conservation site that will feature safe walking/biking trails.

Scope of Work:  The Department of Public Works has added this pathway to current road design work for the Gallows Bay area.

Collaborating partners to include DPW, VITAL, Port Authority and residents.
